Saint Philip's Education Vision Statement
To provide the children of St.Philip's Church with Christ centered worship, education, and activities in order that God may become known, worshipped, and to teach our children to choose a God centered life. This is accomplished through the curriculum living the good news, personal relationships, voluteer teachers, and support from the congregation.
Child
Care/ Nursery
The child care/nursery team ministers to the families with
young children, especially the babies and toddlers of the
Parish. Childcare is provided beginning at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday
mornings as well as most of the church fellowship activities.
We welcome parents and responsible young adults to assist
our team of child care coordinators.
Children’s
Church/ Sunday School
Children 3 to 11 years gather in their respective classrooms
during the 10:00 a.m. worship to follow the Episcopal lectionary
and learn about the liturgy through hands-on activities utilizing
a prepared curriculum, Living the Good News. Volunteers are
needed to help assist in the classes.

First
Communion
This two-part program is for children between the ages 5 and
8 years old. It provides and opportunity for children to express
publicly their desire to share in the Lord’s holy meal
with the rest of their parish family, even if they have already
begun to receive communion. Participants meet in the afternoon
during the week and on a Saturday morning to learn about the
Holy Eucharist and to prepare for their First Communion. Classes
are offered in the spring of each year. The First Communion
Service is held in May each year at a 10:00 a.m. Eucharist.
Confirmation
Classes
This course is intended
to help each participant to encounter Christ in his/her daily life and to take part more fully in the ongoing life of the
Christian community. The course will help each person to realize the significance of
one’s public confession of faith in Jesus Christ through an appropriate act of Confirmation,
reaffirmation of faith or reception into the Episcopal Church.
The
course will help each person to examine, explore and ponder
the decision made at Confirmation. The class sessions will involve an active,
experiential type of curriculum. A variety of procedures and techniques will be
used for exploring life issues as well as Christian heritage.
