Fellowship Activities (Special Events)
St. Philip’s enjoys traditional inter-generational activities that generally center on seasonal events of the church, including Advent Event, Children’s Christmas Pageant, and Easter Egg Hunt.  Other activities, such as the 4th of July picnic and All Saints’ barbecue, are geared toward creating opportunities for fun and fellowship among the congregation. There is a wealth of opportunities available!  Volunteers and coordinators are always needed.  Please advise a member of the church staff if you are interested in coordinating any of our church events or have ideas for the same.

Traditional Coffee Hour
Following the 10 AM service, the St. Philip’s traditional coffee hour is the place to be for conversation and catching up with the lives of fellow parishioners. Refreshments and desserts are available for adults and children—a merry time to enjoy each other. This weekly event is also frequently punctuated by special guests, special recognitions, and a variety of other topical  subjects.

Foyer Groups
These groups are intended to incorporate new and not-so-new parishioners into more personal relationships than coffee hour alone can provide. Those interested in participating are assigned randomly to groups of 8 to 10 people who gather to share a meal together in each others’ homes.  During the year the groups are rotated so that individuals may get to know more members of the congregation in a small group setting.  The coordinator sets up the groups each new session and helps organize special group activities.

Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers (EMs) are licensed by the Bishop to carry the Sacrament from Sunday worship to those who cannot be present in church.  The Diocese sets the number of EMs for each parish based on the parish size and provides training and refresher classes for EMs each fall.  Normally EMs will make their visits on Sundays.  EMs meet monthly with the clergy and their coordinator to share experiences, to gain a new skill, and to pray together.  At the present time we have no openings for new EMs.

Pastoral Care Visitors
Parishioners have an opportunity to express their caring for each other in two ministries of support for our ill or senior members.  Pastoral Care Visitors go in pairs to visit their special parishioners every 3-4 weeks.  Members of the Pastoral Care Team call their special parishioner weekly.  Both groups meet monthly with the clergy and their coordinator to share experiences, to gain a new skill, and to pray together.

Men’s Bible Study
Our Deacon, Dave Karcher, meets once a week on Tuesday mornings at 8:00 in the church conference room for a conversation on Christian Formation.  The group focuses on study of the Bible or a contemporary Christian book.

Saint Catherine’s ECW Chapter
Women of the parish participate in our chapter of the Episcopal Church Women by attending monthly meetings of St. Catherine's and joining in their projects.  The group meets on the last Wednesday morning of each month at 10:00 a.m. Members host the group in their homes.  At each meeting the women of St. Catherine's enjoy fellowship and an inspirational program, and they organize ways to serve the parish and beyond.  St. Catherine's has been hosting our Sunday coffee hour and has contributed school supplies for children at the New Life Family Center.  Express your interest in joining St. Catherine's.

Daughters of the King
The primary mission of the DOK is to support the needs and concerns of the parish, our families and friends, and the world, with prayer. The order is open to all women who want to share a journey of prayer and service with others.  Our meetings are held the second Sunday of the month.  Training classes for new members are held in the Spring. Please call the church office for more information.

Baptism Course
Adults seeking baptism and parents wishing to have their children baptized must attend a one session class on Baptism. The class focuses on the theology, history and liturgy of the sacrament.  Classes are held within two weeks of each scheduled baptism, usually on a Saturday morning as arranged with the Baptism Coordinator.  Godparents and sponsors are urged to attend to enrich their participation in both the ceremony and in living out their role.  Parishioners may also attend this educational program. The Baptism Coordinator works with the Rector and office staff, contacts sponsors/Godparents to schedule the class, and prepares the curriculum.  The program includes teaching, facilitating discussion, and leading prayer.

Cursillo
Cursillo is a joyous, faith-building weekend retreat offered on both a co-ed and gender-specific basis several times throughout the year at the Duncan Center.  Candidates for the Cursillo weekend must be sponsored by someone who has already attended.  Within the Cursillo community there are many opportunities for service.
