St. Philip's Episcopal Church and School, Coral Gables ,
Florida , is a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Southeast Florida and is
located at the intersection of Columbus Boulevard and Coral Way . With nearly
500 members, we are a growing church yet remain a very friendly and welcoming
congregation.
St. Philip's was founded in 1943 as a mission congregation
of St. Stephen's, Coconut Grove.
St. Philip's possesses a strong sense of mission as a church
committed to serving the community by being an Episcopal Community for Christ.
St. Philip's actively seeks to involve the Coral Gables community in the
liturgical and educational life of the parish through seasonal teaching and
worship events. St. Philip's is committed to "bring great joy to the
city" by proclaiming and living boldly for Jesus Christ.
As an Episcopal parish, St. Philip's is under the jurisdiction
of the Bishop of Southeast Florida, Leo Frade, who is the chief pastor and
priest of the Diocese. Our primate or "Chief bishop" is Frank Griswold,
the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America
. ECUSA is one of the 28 national and regional churches of the Anglican Communion.
All together there are about 70 million Anglicans, the world's third‑largest
body of Christians.
Under the spiritual leadership of the Archbishop of Canterbury,
we uphold the historic faith and order of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic
church as set forth in The Book of Common Prayer. We
gather each Sunday to celebrate the Holy Eucharist, the central act of worship,
and to proclaim Jesus Christ as true God and true Man, who by his birth,
ministry, death, resurrection and ascension brought salvation to the world.
